Domaines Roux Père & Fils
Based in the village of St-Aubin, the Roux family own 70 hectares of vineyards in the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. Domaines Roux dates back to 1885, and the current generation, brothers Sebastien and Mathieu, have propelled Domaines Roux into one of the leading producers in Burgundy.
The domaine owns vineyards in most of the main appellations, all the way up to Grand Cru. Particular strengths include St-Aubin, Pommard and Corton Charlemagne, while they also produce wines in Rully, Santenay, Chassagne, Puligny, Meursault, Beaune, Mercurey, Aloxe, Chambolle, Vougeot and Gevrey.

This wine is mostly grown on sites at the foot of the slopes but the nature of the soil varies according to each geographical situation. In the Côte‐d'Or, the soils are whitish or light grey marls and marly limestones, deep and not especially stony. Handpicked harvest. Traditional fermentation on lees in stainless steel tanks during 6 months. Light golden colour, limpid and crystalline, often with greenish highlights. In the Côte‐d'Or it is hazelnut with a hint of honey, butter, bracken, spices and sugared chestnuts.

White Saint‐Aubin is the colour of sunshine, with golden highlights whose exact shade varies according to where it is grown and in what year. When young, it combines aromas of white flowers, flint, green almond, and orange‐flower. Richer fragrances come with age: beeswax and honey, marzipan, ambergris, and cinnamon. This is a firm and flattering wine ‐ it becomes fleshier and fuller with time.

This wine is gold flecked with green, and the gold deepens with age. It is redolent with superb aromas of hedgerow flowers (acacia, may, honeysuckle, and a very delicate elderflower) as well as violet, lemon, white peach or flint. Time brings out honey, quince, and dried fruits. Indeed, this wine is full of fruit, which on the palate is lively and well‐ rounded, meaty and long.

This is an exceptionally good value for an old-vine creation from a renowned producer.
