Domaines Schlumberger

Situated on the dizzy heights of the hills of Guebwiller, in the south of Alsace, with slopes of 50° and at an altitude going from 250 to 390 metres, the Schlumberger vineyard is certainly one of the most breathtaking in Alsace. Its excellent southwest, south, south east exposure gets a great deal of sunshine. Guebwiller is the only spot in Alsace producing 4 Grands Crus. Half of the Schlumberger vineyard (70 hectares), is composed of these unique terroirs.

The wines of their Grands Crus portray, from year to year, the ancient memory of the stones of the land. Vosges sandstone gives subtle nuances, sometimes wine can be lightly different just for a few meters difference.

2007 Riesling Grand Cru “Kessler”

Varietal(s): 100% Riesling

Tasting notes

With a few years' aging, this is beginning to show its almond and toast side. The fresh acidity is now melding beautifully into a soft, ripe texture with layers of spice and acidity. Certainly worth aging further. (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Oct. 2010)
