DANA ESTATES ONDA CABERNET SAUVIGNON TASTING TAGS:
FROM THE WINEMAKER:
Onda is a wine made in the Bordeaux tradition, blending both varietals and vineyards together to create a synergy from our estate sites. We have been making this wine since 2005, experimenting by blending fruit from Helms, Hershey, Lotus and our fourth estate vineyard, Crystal Springs. A bit softer than our single vineyard wines, Onda is characterized by wonderful fruit purity, elegance and precision. It drinks beautifully upon release but will age gracefully for 10-15 years with appropriate storage.
Aromas of fresh black cherry and plum, layered with dark chocolate, lavender, baking spice, and crushed rock. The palate is silky with ripe fruit all framed by precise tannins. Sourced primarily from hillside vineyards the wine is structured and full bodied, but with exquisite balance of intense flavors of cassis, violets and herbs, creamy texture and freshness. Small amounts of Merlot and Petit Verdot bring depth and nuance. While inviting now, this wine will grow in complexity as flavors marry with time. Enjoy now through 2025 and beyond.
“This is a beautiful Onda with a blackberry and hazelnut character with some mushroom and floral undertones. Even some minerality and hot stones. Wet cement, too. A gorgeous wine. One of the best Onda. Drink or hold.” –James Suckling

“Containing 3% Petit Verdot and 5% Merlot, bottled in May 2017, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Onda has a deep garnet-purple color and expressive nose of cassis, fresh plums and mulberries with touches of spice cake, violets and wild thyme. Medium to full-bodied, fine and refreshing in the mouth, it delivers loads of open-knit fruit and spice notions with great length.” –Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate
