2011 PREMIER CUVÉE BRUT BLANC DE BLANCS
The Western Cape of South Africa is the massive region surrounding Cape town on South Africa’s southwest shore. Wines of countless styles and varieties are produced here, including excellent sparkling wines. Graham Beck is a storied producer of the region, having produced excellent wines from the family farm in Robertson since 1983. The fruit in this 2011 Blanc de Blancs is 100% Chardonnay from the Robertson sub region, which imparts lovely lime minerality and mouth watering acidity. A soft mousse leads the vibrant citrus fruit flavours onwards to a smooth, delicate biscuity finish.

WITH FOOD
The juicy acidity of the Blanc de Blancs is matched by the streaks of lime and tangerine that are found throughout the mouthful, giving the wine excellent capacity to pair with food. The lighter the fare the better: oysters, canapes, or foie gras are all perfect options.

EXPERT OPINION
“The 2011 Brut Blanc de Blancs comes from the best blocks from Robertson includes 50% of the crop fermented in barrel, the idea to give a creamy texture rather than the feeling of oak. Disgorged July 2015, the nose is generous with pear and a touch of frangipane, quite tropical in style for a Blanc de Blancs. The palate is taut on the entry with very good acidity that lends race and tension to this sparkling wine. With plenty of vibrant citrus fruit and orange zest on the finish, this is one of Graham Beck’s best recent releases.” –NM, RobertParker.com
