Anthonij Rupert is one of South Africa’s top producers of premium and super premium table wines grown across four properties in Franschhoek, Elandskloof, Kasteelberg and Darling. Their line-up of wines include everything from the comfortable and traditional varietals for which South Africa is best known (Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinotage, Syrah, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon), right through to adventurous and progressive varietals, such as Ugni Blanc, Marsanne, Sangiovese, Carignan and Petit Verdot. L’Ormarins Blanc de Blancs 2013
L’Ormarins, is the main estate of the group of farms and home to the Brut Classique. It is certainly the ultimate in premium Méthode Cap Classique (MCC). Of note, the original cellar on L’Ormarins was built in 1799. It still exists today and has been restored to its original condition.
Lively fine mousse. Bright and zesty lemon aromas tinged with subtle oyster shell and sourdough bread yeastiness, limestone, and a faint hint of caramel. Similar refreshing exuberance in the mouth with fresh lemon zest and grapefruit pith flavours that are balanced by a rich, round, toasty yeast note. The bubbly is tangy and vibrant while taut and focused, with a long, lingering, sourdough aftertaste. 100% Chardonnay.

This bubbly from Anthonij Rupert is a perfect match for sushi, grilled shrimp salad, and/or chocolate-covered strawberries. It’s also excellent on its own as the main attraction.
