PRODUCER PROFILE:
In the small but might Spanish D.O. of Carinena, we discover Bodegas Pablo–a family winery crafting delicious and authentic wines using traditional local grapes. Here, in the foothills of the Sierra de Algairen mountains, the Pablo family coaxes complex, spicy, and fragrant reds, comprised of varying proportions of Tempranillo, Garnacha and Cabernet Sauvignon. With a family history of winemaking in this region dating back as far as 1760, the Pablo family has been a leading name in this region for over two and a half centuries. With many of the Pablo vineyards ranging between 30 and 100 years of age, the resulting wines deliver all the complexity and concentration we’ve come to expect from very old vine bottlings; but, offer exceptional value when one considers the quality of these raw materials. In other better known (or more widely exported) wine production regions, it is not uncommon to find wines of this pedigree selling for two to three times the price of these releases from Bodegas Pablo.
