CLINE FAMILY CELLARS
Since 1982, Fred and Nancy Cline have celebrated their love of the land through production of delicious, accessible, and authentic California wines. Today, the couple owns many properties across the state, many of which are farmed with livestock. And not just to produce grapes for wine production; thus, encouraging the important value of biodiversity with their broader philosophy of sustainable farming and agriculture.
Cline produces delicious Chardonnay, Viognier, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Syrah. However, they are probably best known for their legendary Cline Zinfandel – a benchmark example of this distinctively Californian varietal. Offering consumers a focused yet wide range of flavours, styles, and grapes from sustainably farmed vineyards, the Cline family continues to deliver a lineup of wines in every price range that consistently exceed expectations.

2016 “SONOMA COAST” PINOT NOIR
Heat and plenty of sunshine–two things people the world over imagine when they think of California–have cemented the reputation of Cabernet Sauvignon and Zinfandel in the global wine market. There are, however, pockets of cooler vineyards from which producers such as Cline Family Cellars source their Pinot Noir. In this case, Cline has harvested fruit from the esteemed Petaluma Gap. Sloping hillsides, rocky soils, and proximity to the Pacific Ocean creates a terroir that nurtures some of the finest Pinot Noir in California.
Estate grown grapes were harvested by hand, pressed, barreled and aged. Careful not to overpower, for 8 months in 40% new, medium-toasted French oak for subtle vanilla and toffee notes, in addition to a small amount of time in American and Eastern European oak for complexity.
Rich, red velvet in the glass. Bright, red fruit characteristics throughout its lush body, touches of cedar and spearmint, and followed by nuances of lilac and dark chocolate. Well balanced with integrated tannins.

WITH FOOD
There’s a good reason why Pinot Noir is such a great go-to summer red: and that reason starts with its versatility with flavourful, brilliant summer fare. You can serve this juicy, fresh red with your favourite salmon, chicken, pork or beef dishes. Even with robust and full-flavoured summer salads.

EXPERT OPINION:
“ALWAYS A FAVOURITE”
“Cline Family Cellars is always a favorite of mine for its commitment to sustainable farming practices and using them to create elegant and complex wines. A huge part of its sustainability efforts is to use Green String farming methods. Green String farming encourages and improves biodiversity and biological cycles for their soil, plants, animals and people. The end result for them is a quality wine grape and great care for the earth. This <2016 Sonoma Coast> Pinot Noir is a great example of the end result with its ripe fruit characteristics — think strawberry and cherry — with nice hints of vanilla, while providing a full palate and delightful finish…Enjoy!”
