CHÂTEAU ARGADENS
Just over 60km outside the City of Bordeaux we come upon Château Argadens – an estate owned by the famous and prestigious Bordeaux negociant, Maison Sichel. Following a sizeable investment in renovations in 2002, this producer has gained international recognition as an outstanding source of dependable, well-priced, red and white, Bordeaux wines. The red in particular is widely celebrated for its bright, ripe and modern profile, delivering delicious, rich fruit flavours and outstanding balance, making this super-everyday red Bordeaux a perfect go-to wine for Cabernet lovers.

2015 BORDEAUX SUPERIEUR
A modern red with mouth-filling density that is amazingly approachable right from the start. Since acquiring Château Argadens, the Sichel family has undertaken a vast renovation program and today produces a benchmark wine within the Bordeaux category. After 12 months in oak barrels, Argadens red is a thoroughly modern Bordeaux with lots of concentrated fruit and an attractive, supple balance. Comprised of 63% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 5% Cabernet Franc, this unforgettable red offers up an aromatic array of powerful fruit, fine-grained oak, and unfailing freshness.

WITH FOOD
Reds like this taste like they’re made for summer dining al fresco – and serve as the perfect pairing for grilled summer fare. From your favourite cut of steak to finer grilled lamb preparations, this is a wine that will sing next to red meat off the BBQ. You will also find this wine to be a fine match for boldly flavoured pizzas and pasta dishes, or as a perfect way to wrap up a meal with a selection of firmer and more full-flavoured cheeses.

TASTING NOTE
“Argadens 2015 is deep, almost opaque in colour. The same intensity is apparent on the nose, which, although still young, reveals great complexity of red and berry fruits and heady oak aromas which lift the nose rather than dominate it. The palate is balanced and well-structured with a fine, elegant finish of great length. In short, everything that one would expect of a top quality Bordeaux.”

EXPERT OPINION
“The nose shows great purity and classicism. The palate tastes brawny and structured with oodles of elegant dark fruit and cassis spiked with bright cherry, and layered with caramelized meat juices, Brazil nut and toasted tobacco. Good length. Punches above its price.”
