MAS DES BRESSADES
Cyril Marès, owner of Mas des Bressades, is a 6th generation winemaker and part of a winemaking family with footprints around the globe. Here in the northeastern portion of the Costières de Nîmes, Mas des Bressades has become an important source of high quality wines at a variety of price levels. Walking a stylistic line between the decadence and complexity of fine Rhônes and the rustic charm of the Languedoc, the Costières de Nîmes offers wines with a unique style and profile. All of the wines produced here showcase Rhône varieties grown on the estate, with reds comprised mainly of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Cinsault, and whites from Marsanne, Roussanne, Grenache Blanc, and Viognier. With the Marès family’s deep roots in Bordeaux, these well-priced releases from Mas des Bressades reflect a level of pedigree, refinement, and elegance–which is unusual for wines from Costières de Nîmes.

2016 CUVÉE TRADITION BLANC COSTIÈRES DE NÎMES
Cuvée Tradition Blanc has an irresistible nose of lush flowers, stone fruit (peach!), minerality, and traces of herbaceousness. Dry, crisp, and medium bodied, the palate is fresh and vibrant with plenty of texture and a substantial mouthfeel. Balanced, with refreshing acidity and a lengthy finish. Exceptional value. Perfect as a summer sipper, with shellfish, chèvre, and marinated veggies. Enjoy between 9°C and 11°C.

WITH FOOD
With Costières de Nîmes’ proximity to the sea, it’s a no-brainer to pair it with seafood—particularly shellfish. If you’re going for tradition, right beside a bowl of southern France’s famous Bouillabaisse would be perfection. Or, Cuvée Tradition Blanc – what with its notable weight – will handle most cheeses with ease.

EXPERT OPINION
“The Marès family began making wine in Algeria during the early 20th century and would later acquire properties in Bordeaux (Château Puy Castéra) and in Costières de Nîmes, where they founded the renowned winery that produces this wine. This heat of this region is offset by cool breezes from the Petite Camargue: the large river delta where the Rhône River meets the Mediterranean. The whites here tend to be quite ripe, with a range of tropical fruit flavours.”
