VIGNERONS DE BUXY
Vignerons de Buxy is a leading quality oriented cooperative winery made up of more than 100 family vineyards spread across the Côte Chalonnaise, south of the Côte d’Or, and has been a leading source for delicious and well-priced wines from these varied terroirs for more than 80 years. Since its inception in 1931, Vignerons de Buxy has grown considerably, both in terms of the number of participating growers, and in the size and scale of its facilities. By joining together to share in the cost of cellars and winemaking facilities, these winegrowers are able to deliver wines of remarkable complexity and balance (resulting from blending wines grown in subtly different terroirs) and fantastic value, arising from shared investment in winemaking facilities and equipment.

2014 MONTAGNY “BUISSONNIER”
The vineyards of Montagny are situated at the southern end of the Côte Chalonnaise around four villages and was amalgamated into a single viticultural region in 1936. The southeast and east facing slopes of these vineyards are planted upon typical Burgundian limestone based clay soils and produce wines known for a markedly floral character, with lighter citrus (particularly lemon) fruit framing a lighter to mid-weight style. Aged entirely in tank before bottling, this is a pure and mineral driven expression of the terroir which will appeal to fans of unoaked Chardonnay.

WITH FOOD
This delicious value is a perfect companion for rich seafood like scallops, lobster or shrimp, also pairing brilliantly with whitefish like halibut or perch. If given a bit of time to evolve in the cellar, this is an ideal white to serve alongside medium flavoured cheeses following a meal, or with lighter white meat dishes featuring pork or chicken. Finally, creamy sauced pasta dishes are magical matches with this buttery, rich and pure Chardonnay.

EXPERT OPINION
“Floral and fruity on the nose with some guava tropicality adding to the complexity and depth. Creamy and soft in the mouth with well-delineated peach, citrus, apple and tropical fruit. A fine, pure mineral tone on the finish. This is a great value that will continue to evolve and delight for 3-5 years.”
