CLINE FAMILY CELLARS
Since 1982, Fred and Nancy Cline have celebrated their love of the land through production of delicious, accessible and authentic California wines. Today, the couple owns many properties across the state, many of which are farmed to produce and livestock beyond just grapes for wine production, encouraging the sort of biodiversity which is an important tenant with their broader philosophy of sustainable farming and agriculture. Today Cline produces delicious Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Syrah, however are probably best known for their legendary Cline Zinfandel – a benchmark example of this distinctively Californian varietal wine. Offering consumers a wide range of flavours, styles and grapes from sustainably farmed vineyards, the Cline family continues to deliver wines that exceed expectations at every price level and category within their range.

2016 NORTH COAST VIOGNIER
Viognier has thrived in the warm, sunny climate of the Rhone Valley for centuries, so it would make sense that the beautiful weather of Northern California would be an ideal new home for this grape. While heat lends fantastic ripeness, the Viognier sourced by Cline Family Cellars for this particular edition all originate in the cooler Sonoma Coast appellation, contributing refreshing acidity to the abundant complex flavours of green and citrus fruit.

WITH FOOD
Viogniers are beautiful, floral, complex whites–they’re lush and round with lower acidity. With this in mind, medium to fuller bodied Viognier sings with grilled seafood and generously spiced dishes. With Viognier, focus on pairing foods that mirror the wine’s inherent flavours; this will bring out and expand upon the wine’s and the fare’s flavour profiles.

EXPERT OPINION
“A light-straw color and aromas like magnolia and white roses lead into tastes of oranges and honeysuckle with a sour-orange note in the flavors. Full bodied and certainly aromatic, it tastes dry but leaves a slightly sweet impression on the finish.” –J. Gordon, WineEnthusiast.com
