VIGNERONS DE BUXY
Vignerons de Buxy is a leading quality oriented cooperative winery made up of more than 100 family vineyards spread across the Côte Chalonnaise, south of the Côte d’Or, and has been a leading source for delicious and well-priced wines from these varied terroirs for more than 80 years. Since its inception in 1931, Vignerons de Buxy has grown considerably, both in terms of the number of participating growers, and in the size and scale of its facilities. By joining together to share in the cost of cellars and winemaking facilities, these winegrowers are able to deliver wines of remarkable complexity and balance (resulting from blending wines grown in subtly different terroirs) and fantastic value, arising from shared investment in winemaking facilities and equipment. The joint approach to wine production also contributes to better quality as neighbouring vineyards operators are more inclined to share information and best practices, rather than seeing neighbouring properties as competitors.

2014 MONTAGNY BLANC “BUISSONNIER”
Cave des Vigernons de Buxy is a perfect example of a Burgundian wine co-op. Practiced all over France, the co-op is the tradition of winegrowers pooling their resources and talents to produce wine of a higher quality and volume than they believe they could achieve on their own. Going back over 80 years, this co-op in the Côte Chalonnaise perpetuates many of the same techniques of their forefathers to bring out the best expression of the lands on which they toil. Producing Chardonnay by bringing together fruit from many different little plantings gives the wine added complexity, depth of flavour, and nuance.

WITH FOOD
As this Chardonnay is made without the use of oak, the flavours and aromas will be particularly fresh and vibrant. The limestone minerality of the vineyards in the village of Montangy gives the Chardonnay an appealing body and depth of flavour. Juicy acidity frames the ripe, green pear and apple flavours, making this an ideal pairing with seafood, poultry, and lighter pastas.

EXPERT OPINION
“Sourced from the southernmost part of the Côte Chalonnaise, this will be a ripe, fruity and floral wine that exhibits the region’s superb balance. The village of Montagny produces only white wines notable for their touches of hazelnut and fern tones, as well as a delicate but precise underlying minerality. This is one of the great value regions of Burgundy, and this wine will develop and evolve for 5+ years.”
